Founded by Iris Pase, Pillow Talk is driven by a passionate team of volunteers. Iris serves as the charity manager under the guidance and supervision of our board, which includes Alessandra, Carys, Evelyn, Kat, Kristina, and Laura. Together with our growing network of volunteers, we ensure that every event, article, and resource is community-focused and impactful.
While the core team works on a voluntary basis, the collaborators and facilitators who have supported our events so far have been fairly compensated for their time and expertise on a freelance basis.
At Pillow Talk Scotland, we believe in being transparent about our funding sources. We are currently funded through a mix of grant funding, donations and revenue raised through other services, such as delivery of special editions of our reading group. Grant funding Here’s a breakdown of how we support our mission:
We’re proud to be supported by grant funding that enables us to grow and deliver impactful, community-rooted work.
We recently received funding from the Women’s Fund for Scotland to support the launch of a journalism fellowship for women. This new initiative will create space and support for emerging voices, helping women develop their skills and share stories on the topics that matter most to them.
Previously, we were funded by the National Lottery Community Fund , which allowed us to run our events programme between August and December 2024. That funding was key in expanding our outreach and programming during that time.
In addition to the National Lottery grant, we’ve received some small but incredibly important donations from individuals. These contributions are reinvested into the charity, helping us further our mission and support our day-to-day activities. We are always open to and grateful for additional support.
If you’d like to contribute, you can do so with a one-off or regular donation below.
To help fund our work, we also offer bespoke workshops and special editions of our book club. These sessions are tailored for different settings — from schools to universities to community groups — and bring our focus on sexual health, education, and creative expression into new contexts.
For example, we recently delivered a special session for the Glasgow School of Art.
